Qatar has become an important destination for art lovers. Under the leadership of H.E. Sheikha Al Mayassa Bin Hamad Al Thani, Chairperson of Qatar Museums Authority, international exhibitions by some of the world’s most renowned artists are held successively at the various museums and locations in Doha. In 2012, under the Qatar-Japan year we saw the Takashi Murakami exhibition, and in 2013 under the Qatar-UK year, the Damien Hirst retrospective. This year, 2014 is the Qatar-Brazil year. We at Anima Gallery are proud to start our season in 2014 with a Brazilian exhibition, in conjunction with Qatar Brazil 2014 Year of Culture. Our two renowned Brazilian artists Pedro Varela and Carolina Ponte are represented internationally by Zipper Gallery of São Paulo. Carolina and Pedro have contrasting yet complimenting styles that reflect Brazilian art and culture. Pedro’s Dusk to Dawn paintings take us through the journey of life, from its deepest dark secrets to its light warm sun rays. Carolina’s never ending web of spontaneous colors and structure, reflect life’s eternity and threads of infinity. Together Pedro and Carolina present a mosaic of Brazilian colors and diversity.
